The History of Atlanta

The city was largely destroyed during the Civil War, but it was rebuilt and re-incorporated in 1867. During the Reconstruction Era, Atlanta became a major hub of African American education and culture. The city’s economy is characterized by income inequality and has been ranked as having some of the worst traffic congestion in the country. Despite these challenges, Atlanta has a lot to offer visitors. 

The city is home to a number of professional sports teams, including the Atlanta Falcons (NFL), Atlanta Braves (MLB), Atlanta Hawks (NBA), Atlanta United FC (MLS), and Atlanta Dream (WNBA). Additionally, there are a number of cultural attractions, such as the Fox Theater, High Museum of Art, Center for Civil and Human Rights, and National Center for Civil and Human Rights.
